KULIM, August 9 — Infineon Technologies AG has announced a major expansion of its Kulim 3 fabrication plant, investing an additional RM30.1 billion (€5 billion) to create the world’s largest 200-millimetre silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductor facility. This Phase 2 investment builds on the initial €2 billion committed in Phase 1, resulting in a total of 1,500 new high-value jobs in Malaysia, complementing the 900 jobs from Phase 1 and bringing the total to 4,000.

The expansion underscores Malaysia’s growing role as a hub for cutting-edge technology and sustainability in the semiconductor industry. Infineon’s investment aligns with the nation’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and Green Investment Strategy, reinforcing Malaysia’s position in the global semiconductor supply chain. The new facility will incorporate advanced energy-efficient and sustainable practices, reflecting both Infineon’s commitment to decarbonisation and Malaysia’s strategic goals for industrial growth and environmental sustainability.
