GEORGE TOWN, November 8 – Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow embarks on a working visit to Egypt and Turkiye from November 1 to November 8, 2024. Accompanied by State Executive Councilor YB Zairil Khir Johari, representatives from Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI), and Think City, he will attend the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF) in Cairo and participate in high-level discussions to advance sustainable urban development.

During the WUF, Chief Minister Chow will deliver a keynote address at the 2nd High-Level Meeting on Financing Sustainable Urban Development, focusing on innovative frameworks for sustainable city financing. He will also highlight Penang’s progress in public project financing and meet key UN Habitat officials to discuss initiatives like the Climate Adaptation programme and Penang Bay.

Following Cairo, Chief Minister Chow’s itinerary includes a visit to Istanbul, Turkiye, to explore areas such as cultural heritage management, public transport, waterways, and circular economy collaborations, fostering greater ties and knowledge-sharing between Penang and Istanbul.
