KUALA LUMPUR, November 2 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim cautioned students about over-relying on artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting the importance of critical thinking skills in educational development. Speaking at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM), he acknowledged AI’s role in fostering innovative learning but warned against its potential to limit cognitive growth if used as a shortcut to answers.

“We must not simply imitate or depend on AI-generated responses. Our focus should be on advancing new disciplines that deepen understanding,” Anwar stated, stressing that unchecked AI dependency could lead to a loss of personal and national empowerment. He urged students to harness AI as a tool, not a crutch, emphasizing the need for a balance that prioritizes intellectual engagement and progress.
