JOHOR BAHRU, November 13 — A groundbreaking ceremony in Tanjung Langsat, Johor, marked the start of Agro Snow’s innovative plant protein facility, a joint venture between Agrocorp International and Japan’s Megmilk Snow Brand. This state-of-the-art facility aims to produce sustainable plant-based protein from pulses like lentils, chickpeas, and beans, significantly reducing carbon emissions and water usage compared to traditional protein sources.

Scheduled for completion by early 2026, the facility will support the growing demand for plant-based foods across Asia, aligning with Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 to foster high-impact, eco-friendly investments. Johor’s Chief Minister, Y.A.B. Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, highlighted the facility’s role in bolstering Johor’s sustainable economic growth, while MIDA’s CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim praised its contribution to Malaysia’s position as a premium food ingredients hub.
