KUALA LUMPUR, November 15 — Malaysia is exploring the integration of nuclear energy into its future energy portfolio as part of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli announced. The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra) and the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (Mosti) are working to establish a legal and regulatory framework to ensure safe and compliant adoption of nuclear energy.

Rafizi emphasized that stringent regulatory measures and international standards would be met before any nuclear initiatives proceed, with the Energy Commission likely overseeing sector participation. This exploration marks a significant step towards diversifying Malaysia’s energy sources in alignment with national and international safety protocols.
