KUALA LUMPUR, November 13 – Malaysia is reinforcing its dedication to sustainability and climate action at COP29 with the unveiling of the Malaysia Pavilion under the theme, Shift for Sustainability – Climate Action Now!. This pavilion showcases Malaysia’s ambitious plans to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and highlights its preparations for assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. Through its pavilion, Malaysia is promoting advanced green practices and calling for stronger intergovernmental cooperation to address climate challenges, emphasizing sustainable development, green technology, and resilient urban design.

The pavilion’s efforts align with Malaysia’s broader climate objectives and the upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship theme, Inclusivity and Sustainability. The initiative underscores Malaysia’s push for collective action in areas such as environmental protection, social equity, and sustainable growth across ASEAN. “The global climate crisis demands a unified approach,” said Datuk Dr. Ching Thoo, Secretary General of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES). “We aim to foster deeper collaborations to tackle these shared environmental challenges and enhance regional resilience with effective climate solutions.”

Strategically positioned in COP29’s Blue Zone, the Malaysia Pavilion is a platform for discussions on climate resilience, renewable energy, and biodiversity protection, featuring a lineup of local and international speakers, including representatives from Tenaga Nasional Berhad, PETRA, and ICLEI South Asia. Panels over the next two days will bring together voices from various ASEAN countries, such as Indonesia and Singapore, to discuss regional initiatives and solutions for managing transboundary climate risks, making the pavilion a hub for transformative conversations that will shape Southeast Asia’s sustainable future.
