KUALA LUMPUR, November 21 – Mastercard has signed an MoU with the ASEAN Foundation to launch the ASEAN Foundation-Mastercard Cybersecurity Resilience Program. This initiative aims to enhance cybersecurity capabilities across ASEAN member states, focusing on awareness-building, skills training, and strengthening capacity for both public sector entities and SMEs. With Malaysia highlighting cybersecurity in its Budget 2025 and allocating RM30 million towards related initiatives, this collaboration complements the country’s efforts to protect digital infrastructure and equip its workforce with essential cybersecurity skills.

The Program includes support for SMEs, which make up over 97% of businesses in ASEAN, by providing tools like the Mastercard Trust Center for cyber incident management, and My Cyber Risk for identifying vulnerabilities. In the public sector, initiatives will include cybersecurity webinars, crisis simulation exercises, and risk assessments tailored to ASEAN governments. This partnership reflects Mastercard’s commitment to fostering a secure, resilient digital ecosystem in Southeast Asia, helping the region’s digital economy flourish amid evolving cyber threats.
