KUALA LUMPUR, November 22 — Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad, in partnership with Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC), has launched the first-ever Halal Portfolio Guarantee-i Scheme, a RM70 million fund designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia’s halal industry. This Shariah-compliant scheme offers accessible financing solutions specifically tailored to the needs of halal-related businesses, facilitating growth in a sector vital to Malaysia’s economy.

Bank Muamalat CEO Khairul Kamarudin highlighted the initiative as a commitment to empowering SMEs, which make up 97% of Malaysia’s businesses, by increasing their access to financing while adhering to Islamic finance principles. The scheme, available to industries like manufacturing, retail, and services, offers flexible financing terms with tenures up to seven years for SMEs, helping them secure capital for working expenses, asset acquisition, and halal certification. CGC CEO Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak emphasized the strategic partnership’s role in strengthening Malaysia’s position in the global halal market, aligning with national economic goals.
