MELAKA, November 15 — Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has issued a warning to technology graduates, especially those with expertise in information and communications, to stay vigilant as human trafficking and scam syndicates increasingly target their skill sets. CID director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain highlighted the risk for young tech professionals enticed by lucrative overseas job offers, explaining that criminal networks seek individuals with basic systems and telecommunications knowledge to exploit for illegal activities.

With entry-level salaries in Malaysia typically ranging from RM1,500 to RM2,200, these syndicates offer enticing salaries of RM4,000 to RM5,000, often under the guise of legitimate-sounding roles like customer service or technical support. Mohd Shuhaily advised graduates to carefully verify job offers, especially those from countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, or Myanmar, to avoid becoming unwitting victims of scams or trafficking schemes.
