KUCHING, November 22 — Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) has paid out a total of RM800,000 to settle claims for equipment damaged by power supply disruptions, according to state deputy minister of utility and telecommunication, Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi. Since 2019, SEB has processed and compensated 106 out of 191 claims received, demonstrating its commitment to supporting consumers affected by service interruptions.

In response to queries in the State Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahman clarified that while Syarikat Sesco Berhad does not offer direct compensation for electrical damage from outages, affected consumers can appeal to SEB. To file a claim, customers need to submit a letter, a police report, photo evidence, and repair receipts. Abdul Rahman attributed power disruptions in areas like Kabong to external factors such as severe weather, flash floods, and accidents, emphasizing SEB’s proactive approach in addressing such incidents.
