KUALA LUMPUR, November 28 – Malaysian billionaire T Ananda Krishnan, the chairman of Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd, has passed away at the age of 86. His company confirmed the news today, stating that he died peacefully.

Ananda was widely known for his contributions to the corporate world, including founding Maxis Bhd, Malaysia’s second-largest mobile operator, and Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, a major broadcasting and media company. He was also a significant shareholder in Bumi Armada Bhd.

As of April, Forbes listed Ananda Krishnan as the third-richest person in Malaysia, with a net worth of US$5.1 billion. A Harvard Business School alumnus, Ananda’s legacy extends beyond business to philanthropy, where his initiatives impacted many lives. The family has requested privacy during this time of mourning.
