JOHOR BAHRU, December 14 – NTT DATA, a global leader in IT and business solutions, has announced the acquisition of a 68.5-acre site in Gelang Patah, Johor Bahru, for the development of one of the largest data center campuses in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The campus will feature six buildings with a combined IT load capacity of 290 megawatts (MW).

The first phase, offering 48 MW, is set to launch in April 2027. This development marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s digital infrastructure growth, bolstered by Johor Bahru’s strategic location near Singapore. Doug Adams, CEO and President of Global Data Centers at NTT DATA, emphasized the project’s importance in addressing APAC’s rising IT demands, while Yasuo Suzuki, EVP and Managing Director for Japan and APAC, highlighted its potential to drive regional economic growth, innovation, and job creation.

With plans to integrate cutting-edge technologies like direct liquid cooling for AI applications and adopt sustainable energy practices, the Johor Bahru campus complements NTT DATA’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2030. The initiative builds on NTT DATA’s existing presence in Malaysia, which includes six facilities in Cyberjaya with a total IT load of 20 MW.
