PUTRAJAYA, December 6 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed frustration over significant delays in the implementation of two key national digital initiatives: the MyDigital ID program and the second 5G network. Speaking at the Finance Ministry’s Monthly Assembly, Anwar revealed that MyDigital ID is a year behind schedule, while progress on the second 5G network has stalled due to unresolved negotiations between Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) and telecommunication firms.
Describing the delays as “negligence,” Anwar stressed that these setbacks jeopardize Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda. He voiced his dissatisfaction during a recent National Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution Council meeting, underscoring the need for expedited efforts to advance these critical projects.
