KUALA LUMPUR, December 20 – Taiwanese authorities have arrested Malaysian influencer Hu Chang Mun, previously reported missing, on charges of fraud and money laundering. The 31-year-old was detained on December 11 by Yuanlin Police in Changhua County after allegedly acting as a money mule for a fraud syndicate. His arrest occurred during a meeting with a victim, where he was set to collect NT$2 million (approximately RM276,000) related to an investment scam.

Hu reportedly lured a 40-year-old Taiwanese woman into a fraudulent investment platform with promises of guaranteed profits. While under questioning, Hu denied knowledge of the scam, claiming he had traveled to Taiwan under a visa-free program with offers of free accommodations and income opportunities. Hu’s arrest follows a plea from his concerned parents, who had held a press conference when he was initially reported missing. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
