PUTRAJAYA, January 3 — The Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek, announced that the attendance rate for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2024 examinations has reached an impressive 97%. While the Ministry of Education (MOE) is updating its data, approximately 10,000 candidates have yet to confirm attendance.
Among those sitting for the exam are special needs candidates and two remarkable 63-year-olds from Negeri Sembilan. Efforts are underway to monitor operations, safeguard exam integrity, and ensure student welfare, with Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh and top MOE officials actively involved.
Prepared for contingencies, the MOE has also activated “Ops Payung” for flood-prone states, offering logistical and accommodation support to ensure examinations proceed smoothly. Fadhlina emphasized that 5,780 volunteers, including retired teachers, have been appointed to support the 402,956 candidates registered for the exams.
This year’s examination period, which began yesterday, will run until February 6.
