KUALA LUMPUR, January 10 — Federal Territories Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa has assured that redevelopment efforts in Kampung Baru will honor its rich history and Malay heritage. Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony marking the village’s 125th anniversary, she emphasized the importance of preserving Kampung Baru’s cultural essence, including its traditions and iconic cuisine, while fostering development in the area.

Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani echoed this sentiment, pledging to safeguard the land’s original purpose as a Malay Bumiputera enclave. He cautioned developers against disregarding Kampung Baru’s historical and cultural significance, highlighting past issues in Sungai Baru as a warning. Perbadanan Pembangunan Kampong Bharu (PKB), which organized the event, stated it aims to ensure smooth execution of redevelopment projects while celebrating the community’s contributions to preserving Kampung Baru’s legacy.
