PUTRAJAYA, January 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged civil servants to assess and enhance their departments’ governance within a week, emphasizing the need to address inefficiencies like work-hour misuse and procedural delays. Speaking at the Prime Minister’s Department’s monthly gathering, he called for a collective effort to improve public service delivery, citing the need to reduce waiting times for services such as driving license renewals.

Proud of the civil service’s transparency under his leadership, Anwar highlighted the absence of major scandals in the past two years due to fair tender processes. He also announced plans to provide younger public officials with training in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and energy transition, aiming to develop a competent second line of officers. “Malaysia must offer the best public service among developing nations,” he asserted.
