PUTRAJAYA, January 8 — Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was formally welcomed at the Perdana Putra Complex today during the official segment of his two-day visit to Malaysia. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim greeted Wong at 9.50 am, where both national anthems were played, and Wong inspected a guard of honour by the Royal Ranger Regiment. Accompanied by his wife, Loo Tze Lui, Wong then joined Anwar for the 11th Leaders’ Retreat delegation meeting.

The Leaders’ Retreat, a hallmark of Malaysia-Singapore relations since 2007, aims to deepen collaboration and address strategic priorities. Highlights include the signing of a joint agreement on the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), along with memoranda of understanding on education, climate change, and urban development. This year’s gathering marks 60 years of diplomatic ties, with bilateral trade reaching RM360.12 billion in 2024, showcasing the enduring partnership between the two nations.
