PUTRAJAYA, January 16 — Malaysia and Singapore are resuming discussions on long-standing issues, including water supply, maritime delimitation, and airspace, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong agreed to address these complex matters holistically during the 11th Leaders’ Retreat, emphasizing a win-win resolution for both nations.

Technical teams from both sides will engage in quarterly reviews to expedite progress. The leaders also discussed Sarawak’s energy exports to Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), and the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link. Both Anwar and Wong reaffirmed their commitment to constructive dialogue, ensuring that unresolved issues do not overshadow positive collaborations.

Wong highlighted progress on these longstanding matters and expressed confidence in achieving durable solutions through mutual understanding and good faith negotiations.
