PETALING JAYA, January 19 – Tourism Malaysia, under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), hosted a pivotal engagement session with central region tourism stakeholders to align strategies for the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign. The event, officiated by Tourism Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, gathered leading industry players, airlines, hoteliers, travel agencies, and media representatives to chart a path toward attracting 35.6 million tourists and generating RM147.1 billion in revenue.

The VM2026 campaign revolves around three strategic pillars: creating demand, increasing traffic, and prioritising target markets. Key initiatives include joint marketing efforts, tactical campaigns, and enhanced market segmentation. During the event, Minister Tiong highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration, evidenced by Tourism Malaysia’s partnership with 39 strategic allies, including associations and domestic media, to promote Malaysia’s rich tourism offerings and elevate its global appeal.

From January to November 2024, Malaysia recorded 22.5 million tourist arrivals, marking a 26% increase from the previous year, with Singapore, Indonesia, and China as the top contributors. This positive trend sets the stage for VM2026, promising to position Malaysia as a premier travel destination through innovative partnerships and a shared vision of sustainable growth.
