KUCHING, January 21 – In a strategic move to foster sustainable growth and talent development in Sarawak, OPUS International (M) Berhad has signed a Memorandum of Business Exploration (MOBE) with Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak. This collaboration bridges academia and industry, focusing on internships, graduate programs, and joint research to equip Sarawak’s workforce with the skills needed to meet the demands of infrastructure and sustainability projects.
The partnership aligns with OPUS’ ongoing initiatives, such as the Pan Borneo Highway and Sarawak Coastal Road Projects, where it plays a pivotal role in ensuring quality and sustainability. Through hands-on opportunities and academic integration, this collaboration will prepare students to contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s development. “This partnership represents a leap forward in creating a future-ready workforce,” said Vincent Tang, Head of OPUS Sarawak Regional Office.
By merging OPUS’ infrastructure expertise with Swinburne’s academic excellence, the collaboration sets a benchmark for sustainable growth. Pro Vice-Chancellor Ir Professor Lau Hieng Ho remarked, “Together, we are shaping a future-ready workforce poised to lead Sarawak’s sustainable development journey.” The MOBE also supports Swinburne’s Horizon 2025 Vision, ensuring students gain real-world experience while promoting Sarawak’s growth on a regional and global scale.
