GEORGE TOWN, January 9 – A suspicious object resembling an explosive device found on Lebuh Sungai Pinang 7 this morning was confirmed harmless by authorities. The Northeast District Police, assisted by the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) and forensic experts from the Penang Police Contingent Headquarters, neutralized the object at approximately 11:50 AM.
Initial investigations revealed the object was made of paper, wire, and cement, with no explosive materials present. The site was declared safe and reopened to the public at 12:15 PM. No injuries or property damage were reported. Police have urged the public not to speculate or disseminate false information about the incident to avoid unnecessary panic, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining safety and transparency in such situations.
