LANGKAWI, January 27 — Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, will chair the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat (AMM Retreat), focusing on regional and international challenges, including the crisis in Myanmar and geopolitical tensions. The retreat will also discuss ASEAN’s strategic direction, efforts to strengthen the ASEAN Community, and its external relations, according to a statement by Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry.

Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair for 2025, will present its priority areas under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” focusing on the political-security, economic, and socio-cultural pillars. Attended by over 200 delegates, including ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn and Timor-Leste’s Foreign Minister as an Observer, the retreat will review follow-up actions from previous summits and set the stage for a more integrated and sustainable ASEAN.
