PUTRAJAYA, January 29 – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized the need for Malaysia to invest in advanced policing technologies to strengthen national security and align with global best practices. Speaking at the Asia 2025 International Security Summit and Expo, Zahid highlighted that modern security requires more than just physical enforcement but also advanced tools such as high-definition facial recognition and CCTV systems to improve crime prevention and response accuracy.

“Balancing robust security measures with civil liberties is crucial in maintaining a fair and equitable security framework. Immediate action to drive prevention and enforcement must be expedited,” he said, urging greater collaboration between government agencies, law enforcement, and private sectors to address security challenges effectively. The summit also sets the stage for Malaysia’s leadership at the upcoming ASEAN-GCC Summit in May 2025.
