ALOR SETAR, January 29 — Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has announced that while the government is not rushing to achieve developed nation status, Malaysia’s economic growth trajectory places the country on track to reach this milestone by 2028 or 2029. Speaking at a 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) engagement session in Kedah, Rafizi highlighted that sustained foreign investment and Malaysia’s role as a strategic gateway to ASEAN contribute to this progress.
Rafizi emphasized that the government’s focus is on creating resilient infrastructure to better withstand global economic disruptions. He also reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to prioritizing development in six key states, including Kedah, to bridge economic disparities and ensure equitable growth.
Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor commended the federal government for its inclusive approach to national planning, noting the state’s rising investment performance. He outlined Kedah’s goal to increase its GDP contribution to 10%, aligning its development with more advanced states.
