KUALA LUMPUR, January 30 — Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has attributed delays in Kedah’s development projects, including the fifth phase of the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP), to unresolved land issues at the state level rather than federal government inaction. Rafizi revealed that his ministry had approved a RM195 million loan to fund the project, but the land proposed during the loan application was deemed problematic, halting progress.
Responding to claims that he deliberately blocked the project, Rafizi clarified that federal funding requires settled land ownership. He also voiced concerns over the financial burden delays could impose on Malaysians, who would bear the interest costs on the loan. Criticising the Kedah government for shirking responsibility, Rafizi urged state leaders to address the land issues promptly and fact-check before making public accusations.
