KUALA LUMPUR, February 2 – Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has called for a paradigm shift in Malaysia’s economic planning, stressing the importance of government-private sector collaboration to achieve the goals of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13). Speaking at an engagement session with industry leaders, Rafizi highlighted the plan’s focus on structural and behavioral changes over the traditional project-centric approach.
“RMK-13 is about setting a foundation for meaningful change that aligns with our aspirations as a developed nation,” he stated, adding that continuous dialogue with industries is vital for crafting relevant, impactful policies. Rafizi outlined plans to streamline regulations, harmonize incentives, and foster an ecosystem that empowers industries, particularly SMEs, to thrive independently.
He also emphasized modernizing outdated regulations in key sectors like tourism and advancing technology adoption in manufacturing and services. “This is not just another five-year plan but a roadmap to transform our economy and society,” he said, lauding the unprecedented collaboration between ministries and the private sector as a “game-changer” for Malaysia’s future economic resilience.
