KUALA LUMPUR, February 12 – The proposed East Coast Expressway 3 (LPT 3), estimated to cost RM9.8 billion, has yet to be finalised as the government assesses its feasibility, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan told the Dewan Rakyat today.

The fully tolled highway, which would connect Kampung Gemuroh in Kuala Terengganu to Kampung Tunjong in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, is undergoing a request for proposal (RFP) process to determine concessionaire interest. With an estimated toll rate of RM70 for the full route, concerns remain over its financial viability, as several existing toll concessionaires are already operating at a loss.

Responding to infrastructure concerns in Sabah, Ahmad announced that 26 projects worth RM18.62 billion have been approved for 2024-2025, with RM1.59 billion allocated for this year alone. These projects include the construction and upgrading of bridges, roads, and essential infrastructure, alongside ongoing work on the Pan Borneo Highway.

He assured that the Works Ministry, in coordination with relevant agencies, is committed to ensuring timely project execution to enhance connectivity and economic growth in the region.
