KUALA LUMPUR, February 15 – Asian enterprises are outpacing global counterparts in AI adoption, with 42% considering AI critical to operations, surpassing the global average of 37%, according to new research from Hitachi Vantara. China (53%) and Singapore (57%) lead the charge, but data quality remains a major hurdle, with AI models in the region producing accurate results only 32% of the time.

Additionally, rapid data growth—expected to surge by 123% in two years—compounds security concerns, particularly in India (54%) and Indonesia (50%). To address these challenges, businesses are investing heavily in AI talent, with 71% hiring specialists and 68% seeking external expertise. Successful AI adopters credit high-quality data (40%), strategic vendor partnerships (39%), and strong governance frameworks (45%) as key drivers of success.

Adrian Johnson, Senior VP at Hitachi Vantara, stresses that while Asia’s AI leadership is evident, enterprises must prioritize data integrity and governance to unlock AI’s full potential.
