KUALA LUMPUR, February 19 — The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has summoned 22 Immigration Department officers as part of an ongoing probe into a syndicate issuing medical visas to foreign nationals without proper procedures. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail confirmed that the department is fully cooperating with the investigation and assured that any officers found guilty will face firm action.
From 2022 to 2024, the Immigration Department has already taken disciplinary action against 241 officers, including 46 dismissals. The EAIC raided the department’s Visa, Pass, and Permit Division in Putrajaya on October 8, 2024, seizing 156 files related to Social Visit Pass (Medical Treatment category) applications. A Special Task Force has been established under Section 17(1) of the EAIC Act 2009 (Act 700) to further investigate the matter.
