KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Petroleum Sarawak (Petros) will officially serve as the oil and gas aggregator for Sarawak from March 1, 2025, under the Distribution of Gas Ordinance 2016 (DGO). Petronas will continue as a key industry partner, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations domestically and internationally.

Anwar confirmed that Petros will secure up to 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day for Sarawak’s domestic needs, with potential for further expansion in collaboration with Petronas. He also highlighted Sarawak’s significant financial benefits from the industry, including RM49 billion in cash payments and RM18.66 billion in sales tax as of 2024, further solidifying the state’s role in Malaysia’s energy sector.
