KUALA LUMPUR, February 25 – The Communications and Multimedia Content Forum of Malaysia (Content Forum) has voiced serious concerns over recent news coverage of a child sexual assault case, highlighting issues of victim privacy and the stigmatisation of the Persons-With-Disabilities (PWD) community. The forum stressed that media reports should not include visuals that could identify child victims, as this risks further trauma and violates ethical standards under the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Content Code.

Additionally, it condemned the sensationalisation of the perpetrator’s disability, warning that such portrayals reinforce harmful stereotypes against the PWD community. Content Forum CEO Mediha Mahmood urged authorities, media practitioners, and the public to uphold responsible reporting practices, ensuring that news coverage protects vulnerable individuals while maintaining journalistic integrity.
