KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 – Kelantan has recorded the highest drug abuse rate in Malaysia, with 1,130 cases per 100,000 residents, followed by Terengganu (974), Perlis (965), and Kedah (898), according to the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).
Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail revealed that Malaysia recorded a total of 192,857 drug users in 2024, with Malays making up the highest proportion. He emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding AADK’s workforce, strengthening enforcement, and enhancing rehabilitation programs to combat drug abuse, particularly in rural areas.
