KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 — The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) clarified today that its newly introduced daily live briefings will not replace Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil as the government’s spokesman but will instead complement his role.
Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, senior press secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, explained that the briefings would focus on daily government activities, urgent issues, and policy implementation, while Fahmi remains responsible for clarifying policies and Cabinet decisions.
The announcement comes amid criticism from the Opposition, with PAS leader Nurul Islam Mohammed Yusoff suggesting Fahmi’s removal. The PMO briefings—to be livestreamed on Facebook at 11am and 5pm daily—aim to counter misinformation and ensure public transparency.
