GUANG ZHOU, March 13 — Tourism Malaysia has achieved a significant milestone by hosting its first-ever consumer event in Guangzhou, China, to promote the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign from March 7 to 9 at TeeMall, Guangzhou. The event, officiated by Mr. Samuel Lee, Deputy Director General (Promotion II) of Tourism Malaysia; Ms. Suraya Ahmad Pauzi, Consulate General of Malaysia in Guangzhou; and Dato’ Dr. Angie Ng, President of MICA, aims to attract 7 million Chinese visitors in 2026.

Featuring Malaysian cultural showcases like batik painting and labu sayong, the initiative leverages Guangzhou’s high foot traffic and increased air connectivity to strengthen Malaysia’s appeal as a safe and attractive travel destination. In 2024, Malaysia recorded 3.72 million visitors from China, reflecting a 130.9% year-on-year growth, with the visa-free policy extended until December 2026 further driving tourism momentum.
