CYBERJAYA, March 14 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has decided not to suspend Maestra Broadcast Sdn Bhd’s license, following the company’s appeal regarding the March 7 suspension notice. The decision took into account the remedial actions taken, a formal apology, and the potential impact on Melody and Mix FM, which operate under the same license.

However, Maestra Broadcast has been fined RM250,000 under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for posting offensive content on Era FM’s TikTok account. MCMC reiterated its commitment to regulating online content that could incite religious tensions and urged all broadcasters to act responsibly in maintaining Malaysia’s multiracial harmony.
