KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 – At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Malaysia reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the Paris Agreement, despite global shifts in climate policy. Championing bold climate action, Malaysia actively contributed to negotiations, endorsed the new USD300 billion climate finance target, and played a pivotal role in operationalising the Loss and Damage Fund.

As ASEAN Chair in 2025, Malaysia is leading efforts to establish the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework, while also finalising its National Climate Change Bill and advancing compliance-based carbon markets. Looking ahead to COP30 in Belém, Brazil, Malaysia remains steadfast in driving regional solidarity, shaping global climate policies, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
