KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 — A Malaysia Airlines flight from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur, MH720, made an emergency landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) this evening after issuing a distress call. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that the Boeing 737-800 declared an emergency at 6.02pm before landing safely on Runway 32R at 6.17pm, with emergency response vehicles on standby.
Flight tracking service FlightRadar24 reported that MH720 was squawking 7700, indicating a general emergency, though CAAM chief executive officer Captain Datuk Norazman Mahmud did not disclose specific details. At least three Airport Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS) vehicles met the aircraft after it exited the runway and escorted it to a parking bay. Malaysia Airlines has yet to provide further information on the incident.
