GEORGE TOWN, April 3 – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Marine Police Region One successfully intercepted a drug smuggling operation during Op Khas Penyeludupan Dadah from March 20 to 27, 2025. Acting on intelligence, officers detected a suspicious boat in Teluk Kumbar waters on March 22, leading to a high-speed chase where suspects attempted to dispose of evidence before fleeing to shore.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 22.772 kilograms of methamphetamine worth RM 728,704, a Hyundai Tucson valued at RM 150,000, and four mobile phones, bringing the total confiscation to RM 833,704. Five foreign suspects were arrested and are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment.
