KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 – As Malaysians prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, cybercriminals are also ramping up online scams, exploiting the festive season through fake job offers, donation fraud, phishing attacks, and counterfeit shopping deals.

According to Palo Alto Networks, scammers are increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their deception, making cyberattacks up to 100 times faster than before.  Deepfake scams, travel ticket fraud, and counterfeit e-commerce deals are among the most common threats, tricking victims into financial losses.

Sarene Lee, Country Manager of Palo Alto Networks Malaysia, urges Malaysians to stay alert, verify sources, and never share sensitive banking information. This Hari Raya, staying informed and cautious is key to ensuring a safe and scam-free celebration.
