KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 – The Ministry of Education has announced that all students in government and government-aided schools, matriculation colleges, and Institutes of Teacher Education (IPG) must wear a national flag badge on their uniforms starting April 21. This directive, approved by the Cabinet on February 14, aims to instill national pride, unity, and discipline among students.

The badge, measuring 5cm by 2.5cm, must be worn on the right side of the uniform, parallel to the name tag, without alterations in size, shape, or color. In addition to formal school uniforms, students are also required to display the national flag badge on their sports attire, traditional clothing such as batik and baju Melayu, extracurricular uniforms, and vocational college corporate shirts.

The ministry has urged other educational institutions to adopt this practice while directing state and district education offices to conduct awareness programs and monitor compliance. Any faded or worn-out badges must be replaced, and students are prohibited from embellishing them with accessories.
