SEBERANG PERAI, April 15 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed Malaysia’s strong multiracial harmony, urging citizens not to be swayed by divisive political rhetoric. Speaking at the Madani Aidilfitri Celebration in Butterworth, Anwar said Malaysians — including Malays, Chinese, Indians, and the Orang Asli — continue to live in peace, united by mutual respect and shared cultural celebrations like Hari Raya.

“The people don’t feel racial tension — it’s politicians who stir hatred when they run out of ideas,” he stressed. Anwar praised Penang as a model of racial harmony and noted that such unity is rare worldwide. He emphasized that this cohesion is essential for national progress, contributing to political stability and economic growth.

“When we unite, we focus on development — and that brings prosperity not just for Penang but for all of Malaysia,” he said, highlighting the nation’s advances in sectors like semiconductors, clean energy, and the blue economy.
