GEORGE TOWN, April 28 — Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang (PBAPP) remains committed to meeting its water supply recovery targets despite a delay in the completion of the Sungai Perai River-Crossing Pipeline (SP-RCP) project. Following directives from Chief Minister YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, PBAPP is striving to achieve 88% recovery for 300,185 of the 341,708 affected consumers by 10.00pm today.

With full recovery for all end-of-line and high ground neighbourhoods expected by 10.00am tomorrow. As of 4.00pm today, PBAPP has successfully restored water supply to approximately 228,915 consumers (70% recovery) across all five districts — Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah, Seberang Perai Selatan, Daerah Timur Laut, and Daerah Barat Daya.

The recovery effort is being bolstered by upgraded treated water pumping infrastructure at strategic locations, maximising the safe distribution of water from the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant, the largest in Penang. PBAPP apologised to all affected consumers for the inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to restoring full water supply promptly and safely.
