GEORGE TOWN, April 29 — Penang’s water supply recovery following the April 2025 Scheduled Water Supply Interruption (SWSI) has been successfully completed, with full restoration achieved for all 341,708 affected consumers. PBAPP CEO Dato’ Ir. Pathmanathan K. announced that the process concluded today at 6.30pm. Following the completion of 23 scheduled water projects and a phased recovery across the state, including the final restoration for end-of-line and high-ground areas in Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) and the Southwest District (DBD).

The water works, which began with project completions on April 26, enabled PBAPP to boost its treated water supply by an additional 50 million litres per day from the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant starting May 2025. This upgrade will significantly benefit 465,000 consumers by improving water pressure, reducing intermittent supply issues, and meeting rising water demands more effectively across Penang’s districts.

Dato’ Ir. Pathmanathan expressed gratitude to the PBAPP team, contractors, and water tanker crews for their dedication, and extended appreciation to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, the Penang State Government, and consumers for their support, patience, and cooperation throughout the scheduled supply interruption period.
