TAWAU, May 27 — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will roll out a pilot project by year-end to deliver medicines via drones to remote areas in Sabah, beginning with two National Information Dissemination Centre (Nadi) locations.
Unveiled during the Sabah Madani Rakyat Programme 2025, the initiative aims to improve access to healthcare for communities in hard-to-reach areas, including islands and villages lacking road connectivity. Partnering with the Ministry of Health, MRANTI, and local drone tech providers, MCMC plans to expand the programme to 150 Nadi centres in 2026 and eventually to 392 by 2027.
The project aligns with national goals to enhance rural healthcare using emerging technologies like 5G and artificial intelligence.
