KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 – Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended a royal invitation to Malaysia’s Head of State, Sultan Ibrahim, via Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the latter’s official visit to Moscow.

Putin expressed his hope to welcome the King to Russia soon, underscoring the desire for deeper ties between the two nations. In a significant diplomatic gesture, Anwar in turn invited Putin to attend the upcoming East Asia Summit during the ASEAN high-level meetings later this year, calling the potential visit a “major breakthrough” for regional diplomacy.

At a joint press conference, Anwar reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to multilateralism and highlighted wide-ranging bilateral talks spanning defence, technology, energy, and cultural cooperation.
