KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — The Malaysia Prisons Department held a grand celebration featuring the Kawalan Kehormatan Utama, led by Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, Tuan Mohd Amirzal Abdullah, supported by 114 officers. The event was further enlivened by the department’s Band Unit, led by Drum Major Sergeant Shahrizal Izuan Shah, comprising a unique collaboration of prison officers and students from Sekolah Henry Gurney Telok Mas, Melaka.

A key highlight was the presentation of the Ikon Integriti Jabatan Penjara Malaysia, recognising four outstanding individuals for their unwavering commitment to integrity, discipline, and exemplary service. Among the recipients was PP Muhammad Zulhiman bin Roslan of the Prison Policy Division, recognised for his active role in delivering integrity talks, contributing to national occupational standards in Islamic studies, and establishing anti-corruption policies within the department.

Other honorees included KIP Mohd Khalil bin Yaacob from the Intelligence and Investigation Technical Unit, awarded for his work on drone intrusion countermeasures and anti-drug efforts, and TPP Ahmad Zakuwan bin Elahi, acknowledged for his expertise in de-radicalisation programs and inter-agency collaboration. Ustaz Amir Adili bin Mohd Noor was celebrated for his contributions to religious rehabilitation modules and Islamic programmes within the prison system.

The ceremony also saw the conferral of the Pingat Johan Bakti Setia to Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Minister of Home Affairs, and Professor Dr. Md Amin bin Md Taff, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris. In appreciation of public figures who supported the Prisons Day celebration, civil recognition certificates were presented to Dato’ Ahmad Azhar (Awie), Bella Astillah, and film director C. L. Hor.

The event highlighted the department’s ongoing efforts to honour integrity, innovation, and collaboration in the nation’s correctional services.
