With Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) just weeks away, anticipation is building around macOS 16, which is expected to introduce a new California-themed name and several impactful updates. Among the most notable is a refreshed user interface, aligning macOS more closely with the rumored redesigns in iOS 19.

This revamp will bring consistency across Apple devices, with updated buttons, menus, and UI elements providing a more unified experience across Macs, iPhones, and iPads. Connectivity is also getting smarter in macOS 16, particularly with the introduction of captive Wi-Fi syncing.

This new feature will allow users to log into a public Wi-Fi network on one Apple device and have that login automatically sync across all other connected devices, eliminating the need for repeated logins.

Additionally, macOS 16 is expected to bring an enhanced version of Stage Manager, dubbed “Stage Manager 2.0,” for more intuitive multitasking, and Vehicle Motion Cues, a feature that helps reduce motion sickness by displaying animated screen indicators while using a Mac on the go.

Though traditionally more modest in updates compared to iOS, macOS 16 appears poised for a significant leap forward. With design enhancements, smarter connectivity, and thoughtful accessibility features, Apple is making its desktop platform more cohesive, modern, and user-friendly than ever.

More details will be revealed when Apple officially unveils the update at WWDC 2025.
