Qatar Airways has launched the world’s first-ever in-flight gaming competition, “Gaming in the Sky,” during a May 11 flight from Doha to London, showcasing the power of Starlink’s ultra-fast, low-latency internet.
The historic mid-air tournament featured global gaming icons such as Tfue, Castro1021, Alodia Gosiengfiao, and others, divided into Team Burgundy Oryx and Team Grey Aviators. Competing at 35,000 feet, the players enjoyed seamless gameplay, streamed live and shared through the airline’s social media channels.
The initiative coincides with Qatar Airways’ major tech upgrade, including its Boeing 777 fleet and the debut of the world’s first Airbus A350 equipped with Starlink connectivity. With this, Qatar Airways becomes the first airline in the MENA region — and the largest globally — to offer high-speed, complimentary Wi-Fi fleetwide, reinforcing its leadership in redefining the in-flight experience.
