WASHINGTON, May 24 — Former President Donald Trump has reignited tensions with Apple, demanding via a TruthSocial post that the company manufacture iPhones in the United States or face a 25% tariff on all iPhones sold domestically.

Trump claimed he had “long ago informed” Apple CEO Tim Cook of this expectation, criticizing the company’s production shift to India and other countries. The announcement rattled investors, causing Apple’s stock to drop by 3%.

While Apple has yet to respond, the threat challenges its global supply strategy, which currently prioritizes India and Vietnam for U.S.-bound products.

Trump’s remarks mark a stark shift from his historically cordial relationship with Apple and could signal a more confrontational stance in the lead-up to the 2024 election cycle.
